Our tribute to Phil Among the numerous admirable qualities of Phil, including his wonderful sense of humour, love for partying, and in his younger days the odd ‘scrap’ or two, he will always be dearly remembered for his unfailing kindness and support of his brother Tony. During childhood years Tony wore callipers on his legs and was frequently targeted by school bullies. In his role of ‘big bruv’ Phil would defend Tony without hesitation and was well known for ‘sorting out’ the bullies. On one occasion Phil took great pleasure in throwing two particularly unkind lads into the brook. Needless to say they looked right pair of drips and were a source of great amusement to onlookers. Of course they never bullied Tony again. Phil was always there for Tony and will hold a very special place in his heart forever. When Tony and I first started going out together I felt very humble meeting Phil who was so admired by his brother. However Phil and his devoted wife Jane soon put me at ease in their characteristic kind and unassuming way. Tony and I spent some wonderful times with Phil and Jane. We will never forget the excitement of going to see the Genesis concert in July 1987 or the orderly queue Phil guided us through! The Mexican wave that made us laugh and the thrill of hearing ‘Invisible Touch’ sung live. We thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic visits to Phil and Jane’s home in Spain and gained a true appreciation of Phil’s passion for golf and ‘vino tinto’. Although our golfing ability was limited to pitch and putt we soon became expert wine tasters! We are so privileged to have had Phil as a brother, friend, and mentor and his ‘invisible touch’ will live in our hearts, minds and souls forever. From Tony and Jan
